Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:

From one of the greatest rock guitarists of our era comes a memoir that redefines sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll.

For the very first time ever, Slash tells the tale that has yet to be told from the inside: how the legendary band Guns N' Roses came together, how they wrote the music that defined an era, how they survived insane, never-ending tours, how they survived themselves, and, ultimately, how it all fell apart. Slash is a window into the world of the notoriously private guitarist and a front seat on the roller-coaster ride that was one of history's greatest rock 'n' roll machines, always on the edge of self-destruction, even at the pinnacle of its success. Slash is everything Slash is: funny, honest, ingenious, inspiring, jaw-dropping . . . and, in a word, excessive.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - The problems with this book.
The problems I had with this book. I have just finished reading it tonight. The very first problem was it took up a lot of my time without me realising it. I could not put this book down. This book literally is the second book I have read from start to finish and I was absolutely mesmerised by it. If you like Slash, GNR and the rest of the guys then this is the book for you. I would say it gives you a good insight about the band and Slash's life. The second problem I have now is I don't think the rest of the guys have done the same and it is such a shame that they haven't because the world from their mouth would complement this book so well. The thing that interested me the most when reading the book is that Slash talks about a documentary they were working on during the Use Your Illusion tours. Because of the demise of the band all the film reels have been locked away never to see the light of day. This is a Guns N Roses Film that needs to be completed for all the fans. I will give this book 20 out of 10 and advise all hardcore GNR fans to buy this.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Not Excessive - Just Your Typical "Sex, Drugs and Rock N' Roll" Thing
That cliche of "Never judge a book by its cover" was never so true when it comes to this product. What made me interested in this book in the very first place and made me read it thoroughly in just two days is the simple fact that it was about one of my greatest music idols in my teenager years - and still is yesterday - Slash.

I thought the book interesting based on the fact that it is almost all about Guns N' Roses, which is no surprise, since the band took a great deal of his lifetime. Since I was a band fan, most of the happenings that are described in the book are not exactly a surprise. Anyone who followed the band through MTV or music magazines somehow knew what was going on until they disbanded. However, it is great that finally Slash, who was a part of it, decided to put into words his own perspective on what was going on, and confirmed basically everything which was reported at that time. One side of the story was finally revealed and I would love to read from other former GNR members, especially Axl, their own versions, but I don't think any of them will put out something anytime soon.

As for life during childhood, nothing really special, as we just are capable to learn that he was practically a regular kid with family problems just like almost the rest of us. He was a drug addict for several times, but never to the point of being seriously considered a junkie. Girls knocking at the door is not exactly anything new for a rock musician. Curiously, he painted himself to be completely committed to taking Guns N' Roses to the subsequent level by being a responsible musician, which is honorable, but might be questionable to some.

Although in biographies like this is almost impossible to distinguish fiction from reality, this book deserves a shot. After all, it is a pleasant and entertaining reading, just like Slash and Anthony Bozza wanted it to be, according to the book last paragraphs.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - you need to understand the situation
This might be a short argument but this is a good book, pretty clear and funny biography. If you are a fan of GN and have live a similar crazy life as any of the character of the band, you might find the book very interesinting and funny. It brings all kind of memories about things that you had done when you were a teenager. I am not saying that it is ok to do stuped things, special when people get hurt, but the story of Slash' life is similar as mine; exept that I did not became famus, make money or anything similar. Although, the book related all this kind of stories, it is very well explained about what really happen with the band and its members. I think that the book is really good, and every penny that you pay is worthy. The book is just for entertaiment, and for GN and Slash' fans. If you dislike the book is because you refuse to understand what is like to live an out of control life, or you are too boring to understand the GN life.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Above average rock biography
I thought this to be an above average rock biography.

It has a lot of cliches, but it's fast paced and, thanks, it gives at least a little insight into production process or inspiration about creation of the songs.

Anyway, it's always amazing how guys like Slash (and his pals at GNR) manage to achieve success. Slash says he was a thief at the time, stealing everything. Than, the guy was addicted or close to addiction to every drug imaginable. Still, they can play night after night and create and produce and have realtionships... It's a mystery.

I recommend this book iy you're a GNR or Slash fan. Just don't expect any counselling from him. :)

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Interesting book from an interesting person
I've always been a fan of Guns & Roses. I've found their stories all interesting. Slash is truly unique. His biography tells all, the good the bad and everything in between. I love this guy!!
