I've read this masterpiece many times since it was published and, each time, I laugh out loud as if I were reading it for the very first time. The characters are sterling, the plotting flawless and the writing witty. From its very first description of Ignatius waiting for his momma outside the D.H. Holmes store to its conclusion--every loose end tied into as thick a braid as Ms. Minkoff's hair--this book is a priceless treasure.

This is the best book I have ever read. I f I ever wrote a book, I would want it to be this one. I have been buying copies since I very first read it in New Orleans in 1980. A must-have for anyone who loves a great laugh!
