Product Description:
The astonishing, uplifting story of a real-life Indiana Jones and his humanitarian campaign to use education to combat terrorism in the Talibans backyard
Anyone who despairs of the individuals power to change lives has to read the story of Greg Mortenson, a homeless mountaineer who, following a 1993 climb of Pakistans treacherous K2, was inspired by a chance encounter with impoverished mountain villagers and promised to build them a school. Over the subsequent decade he built fifty-five schoolsespecially for girlsthat offer a balanced education in one of the most isolated and dangerous regions on earth. As it chronicles Mortensons quest, which has brought him into conflict with both enraged Islamists and uncomprehending Americans, Three Cups of Tea combines adventure with a celebration of the humanitarian spirit.

This is a wonderful book! Very inspiring!!!! It has changed my perception on the Middle East. Our world would be a different place if everyone was offered an EDUCATION.

Three Cups of Tea was a book chosen for my Book Club. When I picked up the book, I didn't think I'd want to read it because the cover described what Mortenson did and I thought I wanted to read a "mystery."
However, when I finally did read this remarkable work, I was moved to tears many times at the astounding fortitude of Greg Mortenson. And, there was "mystery," along with amazing adventure, excitement, faith and strength. Not only by Greg, but by the endurance and love of his family, supporters, and students in the mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The co-author, David Oliver Relin, writes eloquently and lyrically. Through his writing, the reader is able to see the mountains, taste the dust, hear the cries of the people, and enter into the massive heart of Greg Mortenson.
I plan to buy a copy of this book (some proceeds going to the Central Asia Institute) for each member of my family.
Three Cups of Tea should be read by every American to learn not only what one man can do to fight terrorism but what actually causes the hardships of the people of Central Asia and how we can help.
Greg Mortenson should receive the Nobel Peace Prize for turning "bombs into books."
I find it hard to express how much I learned from this work.
Three Cups of Tea is probably the most important book of nonfiction of the decade.

This is a feel-good, mandatory read for anyone interested in education or current events. When I closed the book, I immediately went online to read more about Greg Mortenson and make a contribution to his efforts. It is a fantastic story of one incredible man's love for mountain climbing... that leads to the adventure of a lifetime.
Working to build schools for villages in the remote corners of Pakistan and Afghanistan, Greg Mortenson shines as an example that even one person can make huge difference to world. He may be a future Nobel Peace Prize winner and he is undoubtedly a real-live hero.
Thanks for taking the time to share this story.

Great book! Recommend this to everyone! It gives us an insight into the issues children have with education. Those of us who live in a dream land have no clue about the issues in the rest of the world. I must admit it is an eye opener.
After reading this book I have a lot of respect for Greg and more for his wife. It was not an easy task for Greg but a harder one for his wife to make a sacrifice on her family life.

Read this wonderful book. It is factual, intelligent and inspiring.
A man can really change the world. I hope he can write a second one.
Expect him to win the Nobel Peace Prize, so get to know him first.
