Product Description:
Have a very Barry Christmas!

In this “hilarious” (USA Today) national bestseller, Pulitzer Prize–winning humorist Dave Barry pens one of the warmest, most delightful Christmas stories ever. The year is 1960, and the Christmas pageant at St. John’s Episcopal Church is a very big deal. Doug Barnes is a shepherd this year, which is better than being a Three King, because you get to carry a stick. There are problems, however. The girl he likes is playing Mary opposite a Joseph who is depressingly smart, athletic, and cute; the family dog is doing poorly, and they have no idea what they’re going to tell Doug’s little sister, Becky; and his dad’s just gotten a flat tire, which means they might not even get to the pageant. But Christmas is a time of miracles. And for Doug and his family, this will be the most miraculous Christmas of all.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - 117 Pages of Laughter!
I received this book for Christmas yesterday, and I finished reading it today. It is absolutely hilarious from the very very first page to the end. I started laughing while reading the very first paragraph of the very first page, and I think that is a very first for me. Laughing about a town named Asquont, which according to Doug the Indians called Asquont just as a joke to get white people to say Asquont, made me think of my hometown Pewamo and the jokes about it.

Barry had me laughing all through the Christmas pageants with their small and large(about a ton of bat poop) mishaps, the wonderful dog incidents, and putting toys together on Christmas Eve. The book brought back a lot of wonderful memories. I can't wait to share it with friends and I plan on reading in again and again in the coming years.

Thank you Dave Barry for making us laugh!

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - The Christmas Dogs
Great little Christmas story. Funny in parts. I love the way that the two dogs were just alike. That hardly every happens, but it makes for a great story.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - I laughed as much as I cried!
I picked this as the auidio book, expecting it to be like "The Worst Christmas Pageant Ever!" which it was not, but by far exceeded my expectations. As another reviewer said, I will not go into detail, but if you are an animal lover, a holiday lover, or just like listening to someone tell a great story, Dave Barry does an amazing job. When relaying it to others, it seems like there's no way the audio book can be a short hour, but it is crammed with detail, observations and memories that are extremely touching. It felt like I grew up in that small town in New York, participating in the manger pranks. I can not recommend this book enough!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Funniest Book Ever Read
If hesitating, please purchase this book. For the past two years I have read this two times per year. My kids sit around and I read it to them. We laugh each time. When we get to the bat poop it(everytime) turns into belly laughs. It is a simple read and we finish it in two nights. Maybe a total of two hours. Great font size script. A child would even be able to read it easily themselves. Enjoyable each time. I purchased eight this Xmas to give as gifts. I feel everyone needs a good laugh. ENJOY!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - I laughed out loud...in public...by myself!
This book made me laugh out loud! That wouldn't have been such a big deal, but the book made me laugh out loud when I was in a shopping mall food court, reading at a table all by myself, and I attracted more than my fair share of attention when I started laughing so hard that I nearly slid out of my seat! When you're with a group of people and you start laughing that hard, people assume you're just having fun with friends. When you're by yourself, reading a book, and you laugh that hard, people seem to assume that you are mentally unbalanced. Luckily, that doesn't bother me, especially when it comes to reading Dave Barry! I have always loved his nonfiction books and his newspaper columns, but have generally been less impressed with his attempts at fiction. However, this book converted me to Barry fiction, and I only hope he'll come out with more books like this in the future.
