Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - No Magic Pill, But A Useful Guide for Stress Relief
I am not a medical doctor, but I've studied medical and scientific findings into the brain's plasticity, and The Stress Answer relates coping strategies based on the latest discoveries into the workings of what's often called "three pounds of infinity." Jeffrey Satinover, Norman Doidge, V. S. Ramachandran, et. al., corroborate what Dr. Lawlis integrates in his chapters on storms of various stresses. He provides 45 days of useful exercises to coping with--and reducing stress. You do not have to follow his schedule to the letter. But I recommend doing one or two exercises daily until you have finished all of them. If you are serious about improving the quality of your life, then you should start at day one and go through the exercises again. This kind of repetition will not be boring; in fact, the more you repeat them, the less anxiety you will feel. I know. I did them. Instead of wasting 60 minutes of your life feeling anxious and depressed, invest that 60 minutes into yourself. Isn't it logical to invest your energy into feeling better instead of feeling blue? Excuse me while I rehearse positive imagery for my subsequent book review.

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - A disappointment
As much as I love Dr. Phil and implement his advice and strategies, I was so excited when he announced this book in his show. I could very much relate to the woman who was beyond stressed out due to the economy and the impact it was having in her household. I immediately ordered this book to quickly not feel the way I was feeling and to get help on how to deal with this horrible period when it was beyond my control. I have listened to the very first 9 chapters (audio cd) and so far all I have gotten out of it is how your brain works and to put on music when you are feeling anxious or worried. I could care less how the brain works and all the technical names for what is going on just give me the strategies that Dr. Phil gives. I am hugely disappointed and am trying very hard to listen to the remainder just in case it finally tells me something I can use!
