I love this teaching unit for introducing my sixth grade students to the concept of evolution. By investigating five time periods and their geologic features and determining the characteristics and adaptations of the organisms that thrived during those eras helps students to see how geology impacts biology. It's a great unit that is worth the prep time involved!
