Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:
Ants march on a picnic and turn it upside down, returning with treats for friends underground. Up above, the ants are taking over a picnic. But down below is another story. Look closely and you'll find very different worlds living side by side, at a picnic, in the ocean, in the blazing desert, even inside the same two-story home. Sue Redding's bold, wonderfully detailed illustrations hide lots of fun and mischief -- keep an eye out for the blue ant and purple worm who have snuck into every picture!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Lots to look at
This book is very simple, but has so many things to look at in the illustrations. Since it's broken in half, the top page is above ground, the bottom is under, and it shows many different settings. My kids (7 and 5) love looking at every little detail. My very first grader, who is learning to read, can read this book quite well already. What I love is that each time they look through it, they see something new they never saw before. It's very well done.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Witty and Interactive
Sue Redding's imagination and attention to detail is so rewarding as a parent and a reader. She creates stunning illustrations that allow a child to see the actions presented in each picture, but each page engages the child to create their own story of events. As a parent, I enjoy finding the irony and the wit in each page (NYU Subway platform, the submarine going the wrong way). Our child also likes to find the worm and the ant on every page. I highly recommend this book!

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - An interesting idea
This book is filled with things to look at and could keep an older child occupied for a while--my 18-month old is perhaps a bit young to fully appreciate it.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Charming and clever
I bought this book for my 3 year old son because I was drawn to the quirky artwork.
It has proven to be a family favorite. The best part is the pictures are so detailed that we are always discovering something new and funny. The text is a bit lacking but in this case a picture is worth a thousand words.
If you like cool books with great art then this is highly recommended!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Great for preschoolers
Our four-year-old son loves this book. The saturated colors, detailed illustrations, and the simple concept offers much in the way of discusion about the world and everyday life with preschoolers. When I asked my son what he liked about it, he said, "I just love it, that's all." Enough said.
